I have been lucky enough to have been asked to review a holiday cottage in Cornwall. I had seen pictures of this newly acquired holiday home and thought it looked beautiful, in reality it is far more lovely. Lower Margate is situated on the edge of Cardinham Woods near Bodmin, it is a grade II listed farmhouse which has a relaxing country feel to it.
From the moment you turn down the private drive you can start to relax.
A small turn to the left and the stunning house is in full view, along with some friendly visitors to keep you company.
The house is everything I love about interiors, old slate floors and beautiful dark wooden floor boards, sisal rugs and not a carpet in sight!
Striped linen curtains that pool to the floor, white walls with linen painted old doors, an abundance of striped cushions and cosy star strewn throws. A wood burner for chilly evenings, a beautiful old built in dresser full of useful things. Oak casual furniture, a gorgeous cream stove in the kitchen and a huge bucket full of flowers gleaned from the garden.
Upstairs a roll top bath, simple white sink with oak surround and lovely cast iron radiators. The bedrooms are a calm extension of downstairs, white walls, lovely wooden floors and simple white bedding and oak chests of drawers, all complimented by more beautifuly simple striped linen curtains.
The whole house has a calm interior throughout, is tastefully furnished, and is uncluttered. I could go on but I think I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.
More about this beautiful house in future posts.
