Choosing a paint.

When you decorate do you find choosing a paint colour and a make of paint hard work? For years now I have only used certain paints, I prefer the ones that use natural ingredients such as chalk, lime putty and china clay, this normally is associated with using high quality pigments and resins which gives greater depth and purity to the paint. The cheaper paints are cheaper as they have a high plastic content and use low quality fillers, this makes the colour less pure. I used to think the paints that I now use were very expensive but once you have used them you won't want to use anything else, and they are well worth the extra money. Paints I recommend are Farrow and Ball, Fired Earth, The Little Greene Paint company, and the Paint and Paper Library. All these paints work well together and have a chalky look about them. For myself I prefer any shade of white or taupe and most of the pale colours, this is probably because I like a light filled house, however I have used a very dark blue before and still have one wall that colour in my bedroom, the rest of the walls are white and so are the floorboards. Take a look at the pictures below, I love them all.
