Snowshill Manor and Garden

A trip to Snowshill Manor was part of our trip out today. A beautiful old manor house that should have been lived in by Charles Wade, however Charles Wade chose to fill it with a life's collection of 22,000 objects and live in a small cottage in the garden!

I personally would have frisked the man every time he came home with more stuff and turned him back around from where he came with said stuff!

The house was dark and gloomy and for me irritatingly packed to the rafters with a weird and wonderful mixture. The beautiful house so deserved to be bright and sunny, tastefully decorated and lived in. But there that's just my opinion.

This bedspread was one of a handful of things that I wouldn't have minded him bringing home.

There were some lovely words from Charles Wade on pieces of slate as you walked up to the house, showing such promise.

The garden and his cottage that he lived in were so beautiful.

And I'll give you one sneak at how he filled the house, trust me this was the less cluttered and brighter of all the rooms.

A nice manuscript from Charles Wade, I still wouldn't have let him in the house with all his stuff though. Funny it doesn't mention rifling through skips.

A nice quirky and interesting place to visit, and such a relief to be out in the daylight once you have been around the house! I defy you not to go home and have a clear out once you have visited.
