Watch this it's amazing.

My son Sam showed me this, I love it, and hope he ends up working somewhere like this, how cool would that be? http://vimeo.com/51460511

Nine students at the University of Portsmouth have exceeded expectations by winning prestigious awards in the same international competition.

The graphic design students received the awards, including two commendations and two merits, from the International Society of Typographic Designers.

The brief was to design a typographic artefact such as a book, poster or website on the topic of accents and dialects.

Sam Barclay, a third year student, won a commendation in the contest. He said: “I decided to focus my research on my own experiences as a dyslexic. It was a very intense and ultimately enjoyable project but I never expected to get a commendation – that was a massive surprise!”

The students are now focusing on their end of year design show at the University, and will also be showing their year’s work in the New Designers exhibition in London in July.

Mr Mike Harkins, senior lecturer in the School of Art, Design and Media, said: “Winning in this competition is tough. Last year five entries won awards and we were very pleased with that. To have nine winners is exceptional. We are very proud of our students.”

The International Society of Typographic Designers is a professional body run by and for typographers, graphic designers and educators.

The society is recognised as the authoritative body for typography in the UK, and has growing influence internationally.

So hope fully an amazing job is just waiting for him somewhere. We wait and see.
