There is an essence to London style and you find it in the small, off-the radar palces: the one-off shops, street markets, corner pubs and local restaurants that Londoners themselves go to.

London style guide takes you on a journey to the heart and soul of London, revealing more than 150 hidden venues that make this city unique. Author and journalist Saska Graville breaks the city down by village, unveiling the places that locals love. rather than the more familiar iconic spots, these places share a certain eccentricity, quirkiness and independence of spirit. Also featured are some of the Londoners behind the shops, cafes and hotels, and Saska asks them to reveal their city secrets. (Taken from the cover of the style guide)

This last picture is one of my eldest son Sam's favourite places to visit in NYC, it is called the High Line, it's a old disused railway track that has been converted into a beautiful oasis where you can admire stunning views and even maybe a sneak into someones loft window, where I'm sure they have amazing interiors. Sam has visited NYC a number of times, and finds as a designer, it is the most inspirational place to visit. I hope one day he gets to work/live there for a while, this is a purely selfish hope, as I would like him to visit all these places and be able to take me around with him! How cool would that be.
