Whilst inCornwall I bought a copy of Cornwall Life where I spotted an advert for a quilt shop called Cowslip Workshops, it looked interesting, was on the way home, so I put it on the list.
It is the best quilt shop that I have visited in the U.K. I apologise for the pictures but I only had my phone with me, and was also not able to concentrate that much due to the excitement of all that new material.
I found two whole rows of flannel material which is usually so hard to find in the U.K
Assorted linen cushions and quilts are on display, all made up by the staff and the owner Jo Colwill, so very inspiring.
Jo Colwill showed me one of the quilts she was making. She is a very talented quilt maker and knows instinctively what materials you are after, which is so helpful when you are very confused looking at so many gorgeous things!
A coffee shop in another farm building and the gardens where they grow the produce for the cafe are both excellent, and also keep any males that you take with you happy.
The food looked delicious, and if you take one of their quilting classes you get to have lunch with your tutor
These were my favourite materials as I was choosing some to make a quilt to remind me of the house that we stayed in whilst in Cornwall, all linen, ferns, slate, bluebells, pink campion, and rabbits.
More about the quilt in another blog.
Needless to say I will be visiting again very shortly. If you are ever in the area it is worth a visit, and if not you could always stay at Lower Margate, visit the quilt shop, buy material and a whole load of nice food to take back. Then set yourself up in the beautiful conservatory, with the stunning woodland views, and make a beautiful quilt. Sheer bliss.
