A certain someone had a surprise 60th birthday weekend to celebrate, to be honest my husband wasn't that thrilled about being 60 but he perked up when the weekend unfolded!

Wendy who runs and owns the B&B is truly amazing, nothing is too much trouble, everytiny detail is thought of and you feel like you have known her for years within seconds of meeting her. It is such a beautiful and relaxing place to stay with first class service, read the comments on Trip Advisor and you will see what I mean. Wendy's breakfast's are out of this world, if you stay long enough with a group and she cooks you dinner, it will be a meal you will never forget.

My friend Julie that I mentioned in a previous blog made a fantastic cake for Ray which tasted delicious, we drizzled it in Maple Syrup, Yum. Her daughter Lucy designed some tags that I used to wrap up treats for every guest, everyone loved them.

Our dinner on friday evening was at a pub called the Red Lion, we reached this by a short walk through fields, Wendy very kindly gave us torches which we certainly needed on the way back, it made for good memories rather than taking the car. The food at the pub was fabulous as were the owners.

On Saturday we visited Warwick Castle which was good fun, we scared ourselves stupid and laughed a lot in the Castle Dungeon, We got picked on quite a lot to perform certain tasks by executioners, witches and judges, then watched an amazing falconry display. However we wouldn't go back as it is very commercialised and the food that was on offer was truly awful, such a shame for such a beautiful place.

Then it was back to The Old School to relax, play chess in the garden, eat cake and drink coffee, then have our amazing four course dinner cooked by Wendy who we have decided is really Super Woman.

This was followed by another surprise in the form of a man called Bill Spectre, who told us Ghost stories and generally entertained us for the evening by candle light, dressed in Victorian undertakers outfit, very spooky!

Sunday morning bought another stunning breakfast, some of us (not me) went for a run first in the beautiful countryside just to make way for the breakfast.

Then after another lovely walk we visited Daylesford Organics, more about that superb place in a blog tomorrow.

All in all a successful surprise and a 60th birthday to remember.
